Critically Thinking About CONSENT

Yaminee is a soft-spoken well to do girl. She is too kind to condemn anybody, or to say no to any request. Her husband is a Senior Software Developer. Recently, her husband developed a mild conflict with her. What caused the problem? On a week end without telling about it to her, her husband booked two tickets for watching a night show movie of a popular Hero. Actually, that day from the morning, she was not feeling well and wanted to take rest for sometime. But, because she never used to say no to anybody, she went with half heart to the AC theater. She felt horrible of her situation.  Meanwhile, her husband had further ordered a Vegetable Biriyani which she did not like to have that time. Sober Yaminee avoided eating the food. Her husband got confused on seeing it. He asked why she avoided the food, she answered nothing. As she was keeping on silence, irritated husband erupted in anger.

We might have come across similar situations in our everyday lives, when one of our personal relatives such as life partner, parents, siblings, friends assume our permanent agreement in all they do. But opinions differ always. Avoidable conflicts arise due to one's assumption that one's close relations would say yes always in everything. If the other person don't agree and say no, we take it personally as rejection of ourselves. For the fear of hurting the loved ones, many say yes without the actual agreement with the idea. That gives room for resentment, unhappiness and conflict.

We should be open to accept one's disagreement. We should ask one's consent before taking confidence of the action itself. If someone directly says no to our idea, we should not take it as a personal rejection.

All social endeavors require the prior consent of the individuals involved. If we are open to accept people's consent, we can avoid lot of misunderstandings and needless conflicts. For that, we all should agree with saying YES for what one feels YES and say NO for what one feels NO. Such open mind relationship would be pleasant for all. We wish that all of us be happy and make happy all.

Critically Thinking About Fairness and Darkness of Skin Complexion

We all are averages - IN HAPPINESS.

In human experience, we all only average out each other. None is significantly high or less. We ALL CAN LIVE HAPPILY. We do live happily. But a needless issue of no value making people to feel bad about their own selves should be thought about critically.  What is that? That is the skin color complex.

False And Obsolete

People hardly believed Copernicus, when his book( De revolutionibus orbium coelestium (On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres)) claimed that not the Earth but Sun is the center of the Universe in which the Earth revolves around the Sun. Because people visibly believed till that age that The Earth is the center of the Universe and the celestial spheres revolve around the Earth. For a fifteenth century European, it was a contradictory idea falsifying their existing beliefs about the reality. However, people understood that their belief was wrong and consequently in present age nobody would believe that the Earth is the center of the Universe. Earth center idea was false.

In the modern age, very few people buy a typewriter machine. Typewriters were very popular before the spread of computers in various organizations. But in the present age, type writers have become obsolete.

Most Indians are running a false and obsolete idea of skin color. Darkness is less attractive. And Attraction is very important social value. For instance, see number of  commercials which promise to change skin color within four weeks. Why someone should think to change his own skin color in the first place?

False Idea

People with fair skin complexion were considered to have higher social status in India because of the indifferent practice of a false idea - sathur varnasramam(Bhramin, Ksathriya, Vaysya, and Sutra). Social classes were petrified  according to individual's  birth and business.  But the attachment of fair skin color with richness, higher education, higher sexual pleasure was an historical making of the modern times. When the British ruled and actively exploited India, the most affected were not the Rajas, Jamindars, Priests, but the ordinary people of India. Over 80 percent of the population before independence lived in abject poverty to the extent - an idly or a dosai was an annual festival meal for most of our fore fathers.

Rajas, Jamindars, Bhramins Lives Excluded from Poverty during Foreign Rule

The then rulers who subscribed themselves to the hegemony of British Raj, lived luxurious lives. Similarly, the all soft influential Priest community all over India were almost protected from poverty because of their exclusive rights on Education and all other soft skills originating from literacy.  These two social groups of India never undergone a serious problem of poverty in any generation. For instance, these communities had a cordial marriage relationships with the foreign rulers such as the Mughals.

Exclusive English Education

During the British rule in India, the ruling and priest communities convinced the British government for exclusive education system which excluded poor people of India. Unfortunately, the British rulers accepted this ploy for some generations. This is how even under the foreign rule, Ruling and Priest communities gained a forward advantage - The Firsts to get educated formally and employed in various Government  organizations. This forward advantage helped them to gain mostly all socially influential positions and properties.

Obsolete Idea Now

Fairness - as a sign of Higher Education, Nurturing Happy Family, Physical Fitness, and Higher Sexual pleasure had evolved during British Rule period. But in the present, all these assumptions have become obsolete. One's skin color will not reveal one's education level anymore. One's skin color will not reveal one's economic status any more. And the skin color in no way related to the amount of sexual pleasure. We all average out in our lives. We all can live fairly an average happy life although we cannot live an equally happy life.

Nothing Wrong in Living For Self-Interest, If that would not affect the other fellow men

We do not have any resentment of the selfishness of our revered priests and rulers. Since, all people live for their own interests. But we stand for TRUTH, KINDNESS and want all to live HAPPILY. Visible failure of our Priests and Former Rulers in conceiving a happy life for us - ordinary people- should not become a resentment point for any of us. WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR OWN LIVES.

CALL FOR LIVING HAPPILY

You are regarded highly irrespective of your skin color, economical status, because you and I are brothers and sisters literally. Only LOVE accepts all. Only LOVE makes people HAPPY. I would like to call upon you to live a happy life and make happy all.

Critically Thinking About Social Cleanliness in India

Shame Shame!!!

From November, 15, 2015, 1.2 billion Indians would be paying 0.5 percent Swachh Bharat Cess on all services now liable to service tax. For instance, each time you make a mobile prepaid recharge, you would be paying the National Government 0.5 percent tax. For what? For keeping the public places clean.

The only government in the world which levies taxes for dedicated purpose of keeping clean public places is our National Government. This is literally, a shame for the Indian society. Why?
Cleanliness is the visible sign of successful living. For evidence, visit the parts of Indian metros where highly successful people live and visit the parts where less fortunate people live - slums.  Failing to keep clean the streets, bus stops, railway stations, and such public places is the manifestation of lack of success in social life.

What are litter?

Useless waste that has no more value such as a plastic cover of a Lays packet, Brittania Tiger Biscuits packet, old travel tickets, Wrappers of tablets, old broken water cans, printed papers such as mobile  prepaid vouchers are LITTER. People usually throw them on open places.

One throw = two times work

A piece of garbage thrown outside on open space, would make the garbage collector work twice the amount of work needed to clean the public places. If we strictly follow the habit of using the dustbin for eliminating garbage, our public places would remain clean.

Spitting & Urinating

Spitting on public places is a sign of foolishness. Only fools would manifest their ignorance so openly than a person who has an habit of spitting in public places. We all know, spitting makes the place unclean and unclean places become unusable to others. If don't care for others who will care for us?

Urinating on the side walls of compounds is another unclean habit. The lack of enough easy access RESTROOMS cause this problem.

Only Successful people can keep their environment CLEAN

All people who are clean are the only successful people.  Keeping clean your mind, body and the outer environment requires life time commitment from an individual. It requires willingness to work hard. So, if someone is clean, it tells that he is successful personally and socially. Commitment to cleanliness is commitment to life long personal success.

India is not rich country yet

Our nation remains poor for more than 3000 years. From generation to generation the poverty of the people is increasing and spreading. None of the leaders so far were able to eradicate poverty in India. None of them would ever be able to eradicate poverty. Because eradicating poverty is like ANT work. It requires the active participation of all individuals. Ensuring the success of all people is the most apt way to make India clean. I would urge you to resolve to help people succeed in personal life through active MENTORING. Be happy and make all happy!!!

Critically Thinking About Life Events And The Age Old Idea of FATE

What will happen in my life?

Ask this question to an expecting mother, "What baby you will get?".
Ask this question to an MBBS aspirant, "Will you definitely get a seat?".
Ask this question to a Fresher, "Will you get placed in that MNC?".
Ask this question to a sales man, "Will you meet the target today?".
Ask this question to a politician, "Will you win the coming election?".
Ask this question to a Fisher, "Will you get a bounty catch this time?".
Ask this question to an Actor, "Will this movie go well?".

A certain answer - "yes, I will _______" - none can give, because life events are uncertain. No man ever remains fully confident about his life. But, we all have certain dreams. To get one boy baby and next one girl baby. To get an MMBS seat and serve the nation. To get placed in an highly paying MNC. To sell all that we have. In general, a certain life to live happily. For generations, the dream for certain life never comes true.  Probably, it wont come true in any generation to come. By nature life is uncertain.

If life is uncertain, what shall we do about it? Shall we denounce family life like spiritual gurus or shall we live a wayward life like impulsive people - enjoy every moment, don't care for anything?  We all should critically think about our purpose of life. We all should pursue higher goals through higher means. But we all should understand that we are living an uncertain life.

Fate decides ultimate destiny?

If life is uncertain, who or what determines my life events - we all have this ever persistent doubt in our minds. And probably we may all have different different answers to that question. Some people believe that all that happens in their lives is a conscious decision of their own. Some people do accept whatever they encounter in life. Some people believe in FATE.

Fate believers believe that whatever happens in their life all were fixed already, because of which they take Horoscopes first and consult with a consultant when it comes to arrange marriage for their siblings. If someone young dies of fatal disease such as cancer, they invoke FATE as the reason. Many fate believers believe that getting a good job or not getting - is also according to FATE. For abrupt and fatal accidents also they invoke FATE as the reason. They believe that being born in a certain caste group is also FATE. What sibling and how many sibling they have or they will have - for all they ascribe to FATE as the controlling and commanding reason.

What do you think? Do you agree with the idea of FATE? Do you think all life events are already fixed? If we apply our mind to understand the meaning of human life in totality,  we could understand the truth about our life events. We have to think critically.

How life events occur?

At any amount of will power, you cannot stop the body from aging.
At any amount of desire, you cannot eat more than what your stomach can give in.
At any amount of will power, you cannot change the rising direction of the Sun.
At any amount of desire, you cannot eat for another person's stomach.
At any amount of will power, you cannot rise a dead man alive.
At any amount of desire, you cannot avoid death.
On observing these things, we should obviously agree that there is something called FATE which sets the limit for human endeavor. But FATE is not the reason for all.

At any moment of time, you can change the idea of how you should live -
what to eat, what to wear,
whom with to relate, what to buy,
when to consume, where to live,
how long to work, what to study,
how much to give to others, etc,.

These are actions at will. All willful actions can be changed at any moment of time. That is the choice we have by nature. But, we cannot escape from the consequences of our action. That is FATE.

Emotion and the universal law of Attraction

Emotion is essentially energy. We feel hard when harboring sorrowful thoughts, jealous,  anger, fear. But in happiness, we feel light and relaxed. Meaning each emotion has a weight and energy.

Like attracts Likes

And it is universally true with regard to feelings and thoughts that when in happiness we tend to recall the past happy events and when in sorrow, we tend to recall the past sorrowful events. Recall a sad moment on which you were singing sad movie songs sympathizing your life situation.  What we can infer from this tendency is our emotions attract similar emotions.

Thoughts become Action

As per our mental nature, we are forced to give in to our thoughts. On the conception of an idea, our mind is forced to execute it. For evidence, you want a good job and you know that you can get the desired job by only studying more. You resolve yourself to study more until you get the desired job. Hence, we can understand what thought goes in our mind, and what ideas we agree with and accept, we naturally tend to do it. Thought precedes action.

Life Events

Life events are bound within FATE but unbound by WILL. Connect with your true SELF. Love ever all. Try to  do what is good for all and to your self. Good thoughts will follow you wherever you go like your shadow. With good thoughts dawns the space for good actions. With good actions follow wonderful life experiences. Always give this world the best. Always be happy and make all people happy by your words and deeds.

Critically Thinking About Honesty In Social Life

It happens every day , we tend to exclude ourselves from responsibility

News hour debates criticize notorious politicians like anything live. We tend to drive moral satisfaction on the nagging questions asked by the news anchors. As Indians, we literally criticize politicians, bureaucrats, spiritual gurus, sports persons etc,. for their dishonesty in social life. But, do we only judge others and leave our own selves from any scrutiny?

Few dishonest things we, as common people, commit in our everyday lives

I come across several friends who watch pirated versions of movies, who do not show any sign of remorse for what they are doing.  Is it not dishonesty to not pay for the product we consume? Then isn't it the property of the film producer who spends millions to produce the film. As individuals, we are happy to watch pirated versions of movies.

Is it not morally wrong to watch pornographic videos, since it demeans the people who are playing the roles? After all, they are people like us who have life and sense. How many of us did not watch such videos, is it anyway honesty?

We all agree that consuming alcohol is bad for one's own self and his family. But why do most people consume in large scale? Is it morally acceptable to let the person live by his impulses?

If we ourselves cant remain honest in our private lives, how can the politicians, bureaucrats, and others who share the same social background can conduct themselves honestly?

What is honesty?

It is time for revisiting the meaning of social honesty and self honesty. Identify who is responsible for maintaining honesty. Who can remain honest. And on what social conditions, honest living becomes conducive.

Social-Honesty
A wife trusts her husband that he will not develop romantic relationships outside the marriage. As long as, the husband keeps his wife's faith he remains honest to his wife.
A disciple trusts his spiritual guru that he would keep the secrets and offer a spiritual solution. As long as, the guru keeps his disciple's faith he remains honest to his disciple.
A consumer expects the seller to sell only good quality product worth of his hard earned money. As long as, the seller provides only quality products he remains honest to his customers. Hence, we can define honesty in social relations, as the will to maintain the faith of people who trust.

Self-Honesty
We all aspire to achieve something great in our lives. When we choose what goal to pursue in life, if we admit what is not our core strength as a weakness, we are self-honest. Self-honesty is being connected with the real self.

Loss of credibility is Loss of prosperity

People who loose their social credibility are in the path of gradual decline. See the state of several spiritual gurus who have lost their credibility, they lost their glory and nobody ever regained again the same.

Are you responsible for maintaining honesty?

A society is a collective construction. We all should take our individual responsibility to maintain the welfare of what we are a part and what we have helped creating. If individuals become dishonest, division and departure of relations follow. So, we all are responsible for maintaining the social honesty.

If I will get help, I will also definitely help others

If people are ensured that they can accomplish their dreams with the support of others by honest means, why they would resort themselves to a self-destructive dishonesty? We as individuals should have faith in ourselves as well as others. We as individuals should generously support other person's good intentions. Simply speaking, take care of others success, you will also be taken care.

Mercy is the source of honesty

Materialistic thinking is merciless. It derives us to compete among ourselves instead of cooperating. It breeds jealous rather than love.  But all honest people are merciful people who can sympathize with other person's pain as their own. Honest people are the most satisfied and most happy and most respected people. We are living in a competitive materialistic world. To expect honesty is to denounce our greed for pleasure. Be honest. Be happy. And make all happy!!!!

Become a Critical Thinker, Become a Powerful Person

First of all, I would like to clarify that critical thinking is not about finding something wrong in other person's reasoning but it is about paying careful attention to evidences and arrive at right conclusions in everything.

For example, many people consider vegetarian food to be more sacred or sanctimonious than non-vegetarian food. Why do people think so? Some vegetarians say, because, non-vegetarian food involves killing animals and eating their flesh, it is merciless. But for vegetarian foods, people do not kill animals. Therefore, it's good. What sanctimonious vegetarians miss to understand is vegetarian foods also come from living things only. For instance, to eat rice or wheat, literally thousands of thousands of plants are being killed. Therefore, vegetarianism is also merciless in that sense. If killing is what making non-vegetarian food non-sacred, than equally vegetarian food is also non-sacred. Therefore, the truth is, there is no merciful consumption of food.

Critical thinkers tend to be open to accept what is truth. If they find any confirming evidence for claiming something to be true or false, they accept it openly. And essentially critical thinkers think from concrete evidences. They do not claim much on things they don't know. They say yes for yes and no for no, they avoid faking.

Being a critical thinker is a lifetime commitment. Since human life is multi-dimensional and dynamic, a critical thinker has to think from all dimensions of life to become truly a critical thinker. Therefore, becoming a critical thinker is a life long developmental process not an attainment over night.

Many people believe that knowledge is power. True, because without knowledge we will not be able to accomplish anything which gives us higher meaning. Now, if we ask what is knowledge, we would finally arrive at a conclusion that knowledge is knowing the facts - or in other words, knowing the truth. If knowing the fact is power, then thinking from what is true is the way to achieve that power. Therefore, critical thinking is powerful thinking.

A well thought out design can make a device or tool more useful and easy to use, such as an Apple iPhone. I openly invite you to buy the well thought out thoughts and ideas which will cherish and nourish your life. I invite you all to make a strong, no, strongest resolve to think critically about everything of life. And I would like to continue to bring those things which we have to think critically hereafter everyday.

Understand the Psychology of Success

The definition of success differs from person to person, but what remains in common among successful people is the way of thinking and the way of doing things. Abdu Kalam, Sachin Tendulkar, Sha Rukh Khan are few of the super achievers of our own time to mention.

Success means a lifetime fulfillment that comes from creating a sense of meaning in your personal life and work. And achieving material fortune alone is not considered as success. What differs from successful persons and mediocre persons is not the mental capacity but the way of thinking and doing things. Success in anything requires the following ingredients.

The Ingredients of Success :

  1. Self - awareness
  2. Self - direction
  3. Self - esteem
  4. Positive thinking and Optimism
  5. Self - motivation
  6. Self - discipline
  7. Positive relationships

Brief explanation of the success  ingredients :

1. Self-awareness is paying attention to one's own thoughts, feelings, emotions, beliefs, attitudes, motivation, actions. It comes from constant self-observation. It helps to set achievable goals for an individual.

2. Self-direction is knowing what to do in life. All successful people have clear goals. At the instance of obstacles successful people do not retire from pursuing their goals.

3. Self-esteem is the confidence one has in one's own self. All successful people tend to have high self-esteem. High self-esteem persons are assertive, they are confident about their goals, ideas and freely express their feelings to others.

4. Positive thinking is a tendency to see the plus points of one's self and others. Successful people do not retire on occurrence of a set back. They focus on their strengths and pursue their goals.
Optimism is expecting good results from all. Successful people are positive thinkers and optimists.

5. Self-discipline is teaching the self to not follow the impulses but to pursue the goals. No people who have no discipline have never succeeded.

6. Self-motivation is determination to achieve the goal. All successful people are self-motivated people. They do not look at others to tell something to do.

7. Positive relationship is having positive people. No great achievement in the history human kind came from single hand. All successful people have positive people in life.

You can interpret your state of being and other people from the context of psychology of success. It will help you to understand your self and your life's direction. It will help you to understand how you are doing your work. It will help you to understand the importance of people in life and would help you to identify the way for maintaining your relationships. And it will also help you to realize the apt way of handling your children If you have any.
