How To Defuse The Communal Forces? - Part I

Mohammad Aklaq a 50 year old Muslim resident of Dadri of Uttarpradesh had been lynched ruthlessly by a violent mob based on a rumor that he had consumed beef. The nation shocked on hearing the news. Astounding questions ponders relentlessly in people’s mind such as - What a man was murdered just for eating something? Where is this country going on?

Religious Minorities of India such as Muslims and Christians look in despair, they are frightened and had become pessimistic about their happy future and they desperately look for a way to stop these mobs who take the convenient cover of majority religion.

It is out rightly possible to defuse these communal forces with constant vigilance by an acceptable neutral body. A system cannot be overcome unless we understand the true nature of it. In the case of these destructive communal forces also, we need some basic understanding of the way they organize themselves.

Communal violence is prevalent in many countries. For instance, take our neighboring countries – Srilanka. The majority Sihnala politicians resorted to majoritarian politics decades ago affecting rights of the minority Tamils severely to the point that they were forced to take up arms to fight their own Government. Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal all have witnessed communal violence in the past and witnessing in the present also.

All these communal forces use identifiable strategies for mobilizing people in their side.

Vulnerable Social Conditions on which communal forces could thrive :

Let me identify some of the social conditions which these communal forces could exploit; so that you can interpret the actions of these communal forces next time on your own.
    1. Visible Economic Imbalance between the Majority Natives and the Minority.
    2. Prohibitions against the majority by the minority in everyday customs such as having food, working, etc
    3. Broken personal relationships between inter-religious couples.
    4. Competition between businesses of people who belong to different groups.

Strategies of the communal Forces to Divide People.

        1. Murdering innocents for not complying with the norms they have devised – for example, murder of Aklaq for not complying with the beef ban.
        2. Rape like cruelty against innocent minority women to provoke and divide the minority against the majority.
        3. Destroying the commercial places of the minorities to weaken them economically.
        4. Relentless Ideological and false propaganda against the targeted groups.
        5.  Murdering dissenting people.

          Aim of Communal Forces

The ultimate aim of Communal Forces is gaining ACCESS TO POWER/AUTHORITY through wrongful means.
